Yes, it is very easy to get lost. The Fez Medina has more than 9,000 alleyways, many of them dead ends, with no signage. A local guide not only prevents you from getting lost but opens doors to places you would never find on your own: private workshops, secret terraces overlooking the tanneries, and introductions to real artisans at work.
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are ideal, with pleasant temperatures of 18–25°C. In summer the alleyways can be very hot (up to 38°C). In winter it is cool but the medina is beautiful and less crowded.
Yes, perfectly. We can organise the guided medina tour on the day of your arrival (afternoon or morning) and depart for Merzouga the following day. The Fez → Merzouga → Marrakech 3-day tour departs from Fez and can include the medina visit as an extension.
Comfortable clothing and closed shoes you don't mind getting dirty (the alleyways have mud and water). Women do not need to cover their hair, but modest clothing (shoulders and knees covered) is recommended out of cultural respect. Bring water and sunscreen if it is hot.
We also offer the complete guided tour of Marrakech Medina: Majorelle, Bahia, Saadian Tombs and the souks. Two medinas, two completely different experiences.

"The tanneries left me speechless. Seeing the artisans working exactly as they did 1,000 years ago, the vibrant colours… it's something you can't put into words. Guide Hassan was extraordinary — he knows every corner of the medina."
"We had tried going alone the day before and got completely lost. With the guide it was a totally different experience: we saw places we would never have found. The Bou Inania Madrasa is out of this world. Essential."
"The Jewish Quarter and the Ibn Danan Synagogue were what impressed me most. An incredible story of coexistence that the guide told with great emotion. And the mint tea on the terrace with those views: perfect."
