Atlantic breeze, Portuguese architecture, argan markets and Gnawa music. Essaouira is unlike any other Moroccan city.

🚐
Hotel Pick-Up in Marrakech
Departure between 8:30–9:00 AM from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. A comfortable 2.5-hour drive crossing the Haouz valley and argan plains — the only trees in the world where goats climb to eat their fruit.
🏰
Ramparts & Walls above the Atlantic Ocean
Arrival in Essaouira. First stop at the imposing 18th-century cannon ramparts facing the Atlantic. Walk along the Ramparts with panoramic views of the ocean and seagulls soaring over the waves — a perfect opening to fall in love with this city.
🕌
Essaouira Medina — UNESCO World Heritage
Stroll through the UNESCO-listed medina: its blue-and-white alleys, Place Moulay Hassan (the heart of the city), spice souks, thuya woodcraft, art galleries and Gnawa musicians' workshops. A different medina: calm, artistic and cosmopolitan.
🐟
Fishing Harbour & Fresh Seafood Lunch
Visit the blue harbour of Essaouira, where fishermen unload lobsters, prawns and sea bream each morning. Free lunch at the harbour restaurants or the central square — the best grilled fish in Morocco at unbeatable prices. Don't miss the grilled sardines.

Frequently asked questions

How many hours do we spend in Essaouira?

We arrive in Essaouira around 11:30 AM and head back around 5:30–6:00 PM. That is approximately 5–6 hours in the city — more than enough to see the medina, the harbour, the ramparts and enjoy a relaxed lunch.

Is it cold or windy in Essaouira?

Essaouira is known as the "City of Wind" (Atlantic Alizé) and is usually cooler than Marrakech, especially in winter. We recommend bringing a light jacket even in summer. Spring and autumn offer perfect weather.

Where to eat in Essaouira?

The harbour is the top spot: stalls serving freshly caught grilled fish at very affordable prices. There are also restaurants on Place Moulay Hassan for a quieter setting. Our guide will recommend the best places based on your preferences.
