The most anticipated moment. At sunset, with the dunes as a backdrop, it's an experience children never forget. Calm and safe camels.

Barbary macaques approach visitors freely. Children are fascinated by these wild animals in their natural habitat.

Film studios in Ouarzazate
Recognisable sets from famous films and series. Wearing a gladiator costume or a medieval helmet makes for an epic family album photo.

Fresh orange juice at Jemaa el-Fna
The freshest orange juice in the world, squeezed on the spot. The buzz of the square with its street performers is a free show for the whole family.

Travelling to Morocco with children: what you need to know

Vaccinations & health
No mandatory vaccinations are required to enter Morocco from Europe, the UK, USA or Australia. Pack a basic first-aid kit with antihistamine and high-factor sun cream.
Water & food
Always bottled water. At the restaurants we select for families, hygiene standards are high and there are mild options for sensitive stomachs.
Best time with children
Spring (March-May) and autumn (Sept-Nov) are ideal: pleasant temperatures and no extreme heat. Avoid July-August in the interior of the country.
Documents for children
Children need a valid passport (an ID card is not sufficient for Morocco). If travelling with one parent only, a notarised consent from the other parent is advisable, though not mandatory.
Sun protection
The sun in Morocco is very intense, even in winter. Bring SPF 50+ cream, a hat and long-sleeved clothing for the desert. Essential.
Pace of travel
We schedule no more than 2-3 activities per day. Rest times and free time are part of the plan. A well-rested child is a happy child.

What other families say

★★★★★

"We travelled with our children aged 5 and 8 and it was an incredible experience. The guide knew how to adapt everything for them, explaining history in a way that hooked the kids from the very first moment. The camel ride at sunset… our eldest still talks about it."

Common questions from families

Is Morocco safe to travel with children?

Yes. With a private guide, own transport and selected accommodations, the trip is completely controlled and safe. Moroccan people are particularly warm with children. The souks can be intimidating at first, but with a guide by your side it's a fascinating experience.

What minimum age do you recommend for Morocco with children?

We've organised trips with babies a few months old and with teenagers. There's no age limit. From 3-4 years children start to appreciate and actively participate. Over-6s tend to enjoy cultural experiences the most.

How much does a family holiday in Morocco cost?

It depends on the number of people, duration, accommodation and activities. As a reference, an 8-day family tour for 2 adults and 2 children can be around €1,200–1,800 all-inclusive except flights. Contact us and we'll prepare a no-obligation quote.

What documents do children need to travel to Morocco?

Children need a valid passport (an ID card is not sufficient for Morocco). If travelling with one parent only, a notarised consent from the other parent is advisable, though not mandatory. We recommend checking with your embassy before travelling.

What is the best time of year for a family holiday in Morocco?

March-May and September-November are the ideal months for families: pleasant temperature, good light and no extreme crowds. Easter and October half-term are the most popular periods. Summer (July-August) can be very hot inland, although the Essaouira coast is cool all year round.
